Who we are
Proclaiming the authority of God’s Word without apology
New Hope is a multi-cultural family Church with a passion for seeing our community reached. You will feel welcome to whatever event you attend. We will be glad to welcome you in. Join us for refreshments before and afterwards and get to know us. During our Sunday services we spend time in worship, prayer, and in God’s Word.

Our Founders

Rev. Wade McLennan
Founding Elder
Rev. Wade McLennan originally grew up in Chicago, USA. Although he did not come from a Christian background, God was pleased to save him from a lifestyle of drugs and street life at the age of nineteen. After finishing a two-year course at the Bible College of Wales under Rev. Dr. Samuel Howells, through God‘s transformational grace and the power of the Holy Spirit, he has spent more than 25 years in mission, grounding and equipping the saints in their God given identity while seeking an outpouring of the Holy Spirit in reviving power! Together with his wife Claire he currently leads New Hope Community Church in Cardiff, Wales, a church which began in their front room in 2009.
In 2019 they also founded “ARISE”, a growing tent based Christian Festival. ARISE has a 5-fold ministry platform with a focus on power evangelism and the desire to see Wales touched with the Gospel and the fire of the Holy Spirit!
Wade and Claire have six amazing grown up children and (so far) six wonderful grandchildren!
Claire McLennan
Co-Founder and Women’s Pastor
Pastor Claire is a Co-founder and leader in New Hope Community Church with her Husband that began in 2012. Claire is the lead woman’s pastor and runs ‘Living Stones’ the woman’s ministry here at NHCC.
Having come to faith at the age of 35 in an encounter with Jesus on her kitchen floor. Her life has been transformed through Gods radical Love and freedom! Now her joy and heart for people is felt by all that come in contact with her. She has a heart to see people impacted with the Gospel and be transformed by the truth of who Jesus is. Claire is not shy about the practicals it takes to reach the lost and broken people. Her pastoral heart is to see labourers raised up and sent into the harvest field.
As a pastor she recognises the need for unity and joint effort to raise up and send labourers into the harvest field. She is a woman of compassion and faith and is looking forward to seeing how through her expertise God will expand his kingdom in the UK and beyond.

Elders
Ali Kayhanian and Richard Pomroy serve alongside Wade in the eldership of New Hope.

Ali Kayhanian
Elder
Ali was born in Iran in 1974 and studied chemical engineering there. Raised as a devout Muslim, he came to the United Kingdom seeking a better life and further education. One year and nine months after arriving, he heard the Gospel through Romans 3:18–20 and Romans 6:23 and began to understand the truth about sin and God’s gift of eternal life.
As Ali prayed in his room, he asked the God of truth to reveal the truth to him through Jesus Christ. He then opened the Bible and was led to John 8:32: “Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” That encounter marked a decisive turning point in his life. Ali had come to the United Kingdom seeking a better life, but through Jesus Christ he received the gift of eternal life and a deep, lasting joy.
Ali has been married to his wife, Katherine Kayhanian, since 2 July 2011. They have three children: their daughter, Delaram, and their sons, Daniel and David. He works as a caretaker at Highfields Church in Cardiff and serves New Hope Community Church as a trustee and elder. Ali also leads a New Hope Life Group and an Iranian fellowship in Cardiff, where he leads Bible study in Farsi.
Richard Pomroy
Elder
Richard became a Christian at the age of 19 and has lived in Cardiff for more than 30 years. He holds a PhD and joined New Hope Community Church when it began in 2012. Before becoming an elder, Richard served actively in the life of the church, including co-leading a weekly Life Group, a ministry he continues today.
Richard also teaches New Hope’s introductory Foundations course and preaches as part of the church’s teaching ministry, alongside working full time.
